God Still Works Miracles

Recognizing the Giver behind every gift

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:19 (NIV)

Some time ago, I was deeply moved by a video of a fast-food employee who received a brand-new car for free. This car, given by a father and his son, came at a moment when she desperately needed it.

We often see videos online of donors surprising people in need with gifts. But why did this one strike me so deeply?

While receiving the gift, the woman said, “I called a friend from church during my break… and she told me: ‘God still works miracles.’” What a powerful testimony! She was grateful to the givers, yet she didn’t forget the essential truth: the gift was from God.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights…”
James 1:17 (NIV)

A Message for Me

This testimony challenged my own attitude when a situation finds its solution. I’ve had so many “last-minute rescues” that sometimes I joke God loves to reveal His glory at the final moment. Yet I haven’t always been quick to recognize His hand.

Often, I poured out thanks to the person who provided the funds I needed, who prayed, who connected me with help, who signed a document just in time—while forgetting the One who enabled them to act.

No one can say they’ve never seen a problem resolved—maybe not dramatically, but clearly, and often right on time. It’s natural to thank people; just don’t forget the One at the origin of the “miracle.”

Remember the Source

  • It is the Lord who gives favor.
  • It is the Lord who gives ability.
  • It is the Lord who gives the desire to act.

Every solution comes from God; every miracle is from God.

Don’t Forget—Miracles Can Be Simple

The miracle is often closer than we think. We expect the spectacular and overlook the simple:

  • The breath of life each morning
  • Rain that waters the earth
  • The ability to rise, laugh, and work
  • Shelter and daily bread
  • Family and community

All these are gifts from the Lord.

A Question for You

Have you always remembered that every solution comes from God? Do you see His hand in the simple things?

A thought for today:  Thank people wholeheartedly—and thank God first.
